So I’ve been a enormous fan of Position 88 ever since the unusual anime came out in the 80’s. It had a curious plotline, friendly character development, and titanic combat scenes. Too abominable they made only one of the three volumes into a DVD.

I was extremely jubilant at the news that ADV films was going to remake Status 88. After I watched the entire series, I must admit that I was a limited disappointed, but found it collected very interesting to recognize, and that’s the reason why I collected give it a 4.

There were a couple of things about the recent series that I did not like. First of all, the unique series was rated MA, meaning it was meant for the conventional viewers. The blood, violence, nudity, and language all added to the murky, desperate tone of the new series. However, with the current Space 88 series, the rating was a TVPG. Not even a TV PG-13. Wow, this change took a lot out from what I maintain the novel creator had intended. I felt like it was a watered-down version of the current series.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Area 88, Vol. 3: Tightrope at the Speed of Sound! Click Here

Secondly, the fresh series had unique characters and left out some of the conventional characters from the unusual series. I actually liked the unique characters a lot. They added a lot to the place and discreetly revealed some key elements about the main character, Shin Kazama. However, the mere fact that some of the new characters were taken out infuriated me. They had contributed so considerable in terms of character development and unfolding of some of the mysteries in the chronicle.

Having said that, I do not want to consider this series in comparison to the novel series. Instead, I rate it on its acquire at 4.

I serene recommend watching this anime. It’s a mountainous series.

I reflect that Location 88 deserves some respect considering that it’s the first anime to really go into the spectrum of recent (or near-modern) air combat. The dogfighting sequences are rapid paced, if not too unrealistic, and will satiate almost any aviation buff. That being said, there are a few grievous points as well.

Being only 12 episodes long, the main situation is built very mercurial, rushed actually, with time wasted in tiny single-show subplots, more especially early on. It’s not until disc 2 that you really learn what’s going on, and disc 3 finally expands on that. Disc 3 felt shapely noteworthy like 2 or 1; gargantuan air to air action certainly, but the set forced into 12 episodes makes the viewer less empathetic with the main and supporting characters.

All in all, if you’re a fighter jet fan and would like a expose with that Top Gun feel to it, more luster; swiftly ’60s and ’70s-era planes blasting one another out of the sky, and less set line, or less pronounced residence line, more correctly, than by all means, this is for you. If you’re more into plots and complex storylines, you might want to pass this one over. If you’re piece of that later party, but have a dependable affection for fighter aircraft, you will probably mild bag a estimable deal of enjoyment in this exhibit.

COMING OF AGE IN TOKYO five stars

Having grown up in Japan and America, I really felt this movie captured the cultural differences between the two countries with humor, intelligence and charm while quiet making its points pro and con for both. I don’t agree with the comparison to LOST IN TRANSLATION at all. That movie was about alienation. The main characters could have met on the moon. There was almost nothing in that film that reflected the Japanese culture. I don’t contemplate it was trying to. In fact several Japanese friends and myself found it rather offensive to Japanese people. The Ramen Girl more specifically portrays being a foreigner alone in Japan. There are many fully developed Japanese characters and situations. The central dwelling could only ever happen in Japan. This is more of a coming of age movie. What is fine about it is that it suggests that it’s possible to actually win oneself and grow outside of one’s home culture and then to bring what has been learned serve home and lead a richer life. Abby, the central character, is sort of a lost soul. Finding herself abandoned in Japan, she is literally and charmingly, through several magical events, drawn into the culture of cooking ramen. Her scenes with her teacher are often hilarious as he doesn’t remark a word of English and she doesn’t advise a word of Japanese. What transpires would appear to be typical but it’s not. Nothing plays out impartial as one would examine it to. Her efforts are actually quite inspirational, although not always triumphant. All of the performances are first rate. Brittany Murphy has never been better and all of the Japanese cast are righteous. This movie was very well received in Japan. Journalists and movie goers were really surprised that it was written and directed by Americans. They clearly understood the culture they were making their film about. I judge it’s gigantic that this movie is finally available to an American audience on DVD. It’s really kind of irresistible. It’s also spacious to perceive a movie now that has such a determined point of understanding and leaves you feeling so respectable.

This movie owes its inspiration to Tampopo, the critically acclaimed, gently quirky Japanese film about a female mastering the masculine art of ramen noodle soup making. Brittany Murphy is really quite helpful as a rudderless 20-something American abandoned in Toyko by her boyfriend. She happens upon a ramen shop and is inspired to master the art of making the perfect Ramen soup. There is a lot of attention to detail in status effect and costume, although Ms. Murphy’s shoes are probably not what kitchen relieve would really wear to set in a 12-hour day.

The Ramen Girl has some subtitles due to its authentic Japanese cast which lend the feel of an art house flick. Another nice touch is a soup making competition in which actor Tsutomu Yamazaki, who was the truck driving mentor in Tampopo, turns in a humorous turn as the contemplate of the soup making competition. I beget this movie has enough charm to appeal to a wide range of viewers and if you really like it, hey, check out Tampopo as well.

Because most of the critics slammed this movie, I went to search for it expecting a lot less than I got. I opinion the movie was fine: rich dwelling, satisfactory pacing, intense drama, and solid performances by all of the actors. Ashton Kutcher, who has a gargantuan shroud presence (I’ve never seen him before; don’t examine grand TV) played the role with objective the fair degrees of intensity, bewiderment, and desperation. Amy Smart’s performance fluctuated convincingly from proper lover, to air-headed ingenue, to hardened prostitute, etc. And I loved the intention the other supporting characters changed personalities with time shifts.

The kid actors looked very mighty like their adult counterparts, especially in Kutcher’s case, so that the constant transitions between pre-teen, teen, and adult versions of the characters were very unruffled… this was necessary to preserve the audience suspending its disbelief.

The screenplay delved into taboo subjects fearlessly, which I contemplate added to its richness and made it all the more riveting.

Most of the critics didn’t like this film, and I suspect a lot of that has to do with their personal disdain of Kutcher. That’s neither relevant nor radiant. Roger Ebert tried to be splendid in his review and did say some suitable things about the movie, but he was bothered a lot by the inexplicably artistic quality of the drawing and the note-lettering penned by the Kutcher character. I agree that this high quality this was kind of queer, since the character was never portrayed as an artist, but I judge that’s a minor detail that detracted only slightly from one’s enjoyment of the movie. Overall, Butterfly Achieve was a handsomely-filmed, “sci-fi” movie that didn’t rely on special effects to occupy my interest and entertain me. It was a tall dash. What more could the critics want?

While “The Butterfly Enact” wasn’t critically acclaimed or well loved by everyone, I notion it was a fine great movie when I first saw it at the theatres. It was a murky and completely disturbing film that made me want to discover away at times, but at the same time I was very intrigued. My only predicament was the ending. I plan it really contradicted the whole theme of the movie, but I always suspected that the so-called “ecstatic ending” was forced upon since the movie is so unlit and hard to gaze that they idea there was no intention people would like it if a more darker and depressing ending were added. Well, now you pick up to glance the director’s reduce of the film that’s on this very DVD, which offers the obedient ending.

Evan had unpleasant blackouts when he was cramped, very worthy like his father. He would blackout during abominable situations and not remember anything. That’s when it was suggested to him that he maintain a journal to notice if he could remember what happened during those blackouts. When Evan is all grown up, detached apprehensive by his bad past that had blanketed him and his friends, he discovers that he can relive those memories when he reads his entries. He can understanding it like a movie and finally behold what had happened during his blackouts. Not only that, but he has the power to even alter those moments. Certain to fix the pasts of him and his friends, he relives those memories and tries to fix them so they will all have a better future. However, when he tries to change one thing, it leads to devastating results that he could have never foreseen. As the hide says, “Change one thing… change EVERYTHING.”

I found this film to be very racy and complex, even though I felt that the film itself was not perfect. The movie is very hard to witness at times, so it’s not recommended for those who don’t like being timid or who are extremely sensitive to such matters. I believe it has a quick-witted storyline and astronomical acting. Bear it or not, Ashton Kutcher is able to act in a serious role. I didn’t even glimpse him at first, but he really pulled it off. He was able to convince me that he was in fact “Evan,” as he played the role with determination and force.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Butterfly Effect! Click Here

As I said in the beginning, my major spot with the movie had always been the ending. While it was joyful and nice to eye that things worked out considering the absolute hell this movie can achieve you through, I calm found the ending to be contradictive and a “cop-out.” Now, all of that’s changed as you are given the choice to either scrutinize the theatrical version, OR the director’s carve. The director’s slice offers a few more extra minutes that adds more substance to the tale (including an spellbinding procure) and a more appropriate ending. If you were to ask me which version is better, I’d say that the director’s prick is without any hesitation The modern ending does a better job of fitting in with the theme of the movie and doesn’t contradict the film as the theatrical ending does. The DVD also offers “infinifilm” features that give you a deeper insight to the movie itself. Extras included are commentary, documentaries, storyboard galleries and considerable more. I must say that the film looks astronomical, and also sounds astounding as well.

“The Butterfly Enact” proves to be an even stronger film with the director’s carve version, even if it’s serene not a perfect movie. If you’re looking for something a cramped more darker and wicked than your regular picks, then this is something to assume. Honest remember that this movie does not let you off easy. It’s brutal and extremely disturbing. If you’re doughty and reflect you can handle it, then recall this up and prepare for one unforgettable and chilling toddle. -Michael Crane

Great Lens!5
I just received this lens and made a test shot I’ve made with other lenses. I took a shot of a satellite dish over a half a block away. Handheld. Magnifying it with Photoshop not only can I see the ‘Dish Network’ clearly, but magnifying a little more I can read the ‘TM’ underneath the logo. Clear as a bell.

This lens is a vast improvement over the 170-500 model. I used that lens on a wildlife trip and had to jack up the ISO to 800-1600 to get decent shutter speeds and a clear picture. Unfortunately that introduced noise, really bad in some shots. The D300 is much better than the D200 in that regard, but the lens was pretty much unusable without a tripod. This lens will alleviate any of those problems.

I usually buy Nikon lenses. This and the Sigma earlier models including the 170-500 (which I had to buy for a trip and now I’m selling) are the only lenses I could find that gave a substantial difference over the Nikon 70-300 VR. The Nikon 80-400 VR is $[...] and focuses slowly, and you can pretty much just crop to achieve the 100mm difference (I tried it to be sure.)

I’m looking forward to using this with a 1.4 teleconverter, you lose autofocus and 1 stop, can only go down to 100mm but get a 35mm equivalent of 1050mm! For only $[...]!

The quality of the lens is very good. There is zero zoom creep. Autofocusing is fast, though just a tad off (a few pixels off on the ‘TM’ - could be the camera, and that can be adjusted.) Manual focusing is tricky with the tripod collar on, it blocks the focusing ring so either move your hand to the top, slide your hand in between the lens and collar, or take the collar off. I got perfect focus using the viewfinder indicator as a reference point. The finish is of high quality, but a little strange. The whole lens including the hood is coated in some kind of flat black matte textured finish, makes me think of a stealth bomber.

I did a lot of research to find this lens, and was waiting for it since it’s introduction 2 or more months ago. There is just no Nikon equivalent without buying a f/4 400mm with a TC-17 for about $5000 or so. If Nikon had a lens at 500-600mm for not too bad of a price hit I would have bought it. After playing with this lens just a little bit I’m glad I bought it. I’m fiercely loyal to Nikon, and it’s arguably a better product, but I can afford to buy this lens 5 times over if it breaks, and it also saves the whole price of 2 photography workshops/tours.

There will probably be a lot of testing and comparing of this lens. None of that matters to me as it passed the satellite dish test with flying colors, I didn’t even know the TM was there before today.

Edit 3/16/09 - I recently bought the Sigma 1.4 teleconverter to go with this lens. The 1st time I really used the combo was during the adding of the spire to the Trump Tower in Chicago. I was on the 7th floor of a building 1-1/2 miles away measured by Google Maps. I could see the men waiting in the spire for the next section to arrive. I had to back way off on the lens to get the tower and the helicopter lowering the sections into the frame. I lost autofocus, but it was no big deal to focus manually visually or with the in-focus indicator. Unfortunately I had to shoot through a dirty window, and it was pretty hazy, so the shots aren’t that great but I don’t blame the lens, the shots are better than anybody else got.

Edit 3/18/10 - Added Trump Tower picture to product images.

Very happy with this lens5
I am thrilled to have bought this lens to mount on my Nikon D80 after having read loads of reviews on the few options available like the Sigma 50-500 or the Nikon 135-400 and 80-400. I wanted the longest possible range below $1,500 in a recognizable Brand. I narrowed my choice to the 50-500 or this one. The Optical Stabilizer and the fact that Sigma had proven itself with the 50-500 were the determining factors in my decision. So far I shot some 200 pictures of various subjects at various distances handholding the camera with the OS turned on. Half way through my shots I reverted from full manual mode to Aperture control and noticed an improvement in the sharpness and colors which tells me that I need to hone my skills with this lens. So far, I am amazed at the quality of my shots with this huge glass. I take all my pictures with a -.7 exposure compensation as I like very vivid pictures and until I develop a better feel for what the lens can do I will continue to used it with Aperture control. The Autofocus is smooth, the overall feel is quality and the pictures are phenomenal for the distance. I look forward to plenty of fun with this lens, if you go for it you won’t regret it.

UPDATE: In response to the person who rated this lens three stars I would like to quote David Bush’s book “Nikon D80 Digital Field Guide” where he states “most lenses produce their sharpest image approximately two stops less than wide open. For example, if you’re using a zoom lens with an f/4 maximum aperture, it probably has its best resolution and least distortion at roughly f/8″. I’ve practiced David’s suggestion with my Sigma 150-500 and it works beautifully, but like everything else, it takes some time to getting used to unless you’re a professional photographer then you’d know this before hand. I added a few recent pictures shown above as part of this review.

I purchased my lens from B&H and it came in Sigma’s black nylon zipped box which keeps the lens practically immobile. The box was very safely packaged when it arrived.

The New B-2 Bomber Completes my Lens Arsenal5
I have only had this lens for a few days and I feel that this is the lens that was missing in my arsenal. I will try to update my review in future, but here are my ten cents:
- Heavy and huge but certainly handheld manageable
- Fast autofocus, OS is great and excellent image quality
- As expected requires a lot of light (tripod recommended for low lighting)
- Solid built and its color makes reminds me of the B-2 Bomber
- Nice hood
- Comes with a durable case and 2 straps
- Only 1 year warranty (why not 5 years)

This is my 1st non-Nikon lens and I am very pleased by it. Its zoom ring rotates in anti-clockwise direction for zooming in which I found a bit odd, but may be this is a Sigma thing.

So far, I am very impressed by it. I am considering getting 2x EX DG APO Tele Converter.

I was stunned at how mighty I enjoyed this movie. When it hit theaters I wasn’t fervent in seeing it and only saw it recently. Being a stout Star Trek: The Next Generation fan, it was a cheap thrill to know that Patrick Stewart would be in this film… and he proves what an wonderful actor he is. His character (Jonas) is so contaminated, you want him to unprejudiced die, already!

Jerry Fletcher (Mel Gibson) is a cab driver in Current York City. He is a nutty but harmless (or is he? ) conspiracy theory junkie. He has all sorts of theories about prick circles, crime, government control, you name it.

He is positive that people are out to destroy him, so he always sets up an clarify run thought and sets booby traps everywhere in his slum apartment. Jerry is unexplicably obsessed with Alice Sutton (Julia Roberts), who is an attorney with the Department of Justice. He continues to stalk her and tries continuously to contact her to espouse his latest theories. Alice feels sorry for Jerry and thinks of him as a sometimes annoying, but caring, sweet, lonely man who is a itsy-bitsy touched in the head.

Jerry has a self-published newsletter he sends out to a whopping 5 subscribers. As a number of them open mysteriously dying one by one, Alice suddenly starts to contain there is more to Jerry than honest being a nutty cab driver.

Those who couldn’t stomach “The Marathon Man” may have exertion seeing similar torture scenes at the hands of Jonas, but they are brief in comparison. The film is a total thriller that had me on the edge of my seat. The space was so well thought-out, that while you’re watching in suspense, you don’t gather yourself saying, “that’s ridiculous!”

If you have any doubt whatsoever that Mel Gibson is one of the greatest actors of our time, capture this movie and dispel those doubts once and for all. Gibson’s portrayal of the unhinged Jerry Fletcher is nothing short of astounding. Rambling in broken, unfinished sentences, and in facial expressions that recount volumes, revealing the depth of his character in layers, Gibson gives an extraordinary performance.

The conspiracy-laden site has enough twists and turns to hold you guessing, and the suspense is unbelievable. Another Beneficial movie in Mel Gibson’s enviable repertoire. Julia Roberts does a serviceable job in the movie also, though not a stand-out performance.

The only clinker in the movie is Lauryn Hill’s version of Frankie Valli’s classic “Can’t Recall My Eyes Off Of You.” Hill’s version is a travesty that absolutely, positively RUINS that ample song. Leave it to a modern-day singer/rapper to completely SCREW UP a classic song. Fortunately, you can fast-forward past it when the credits roll.

Other than that, big movie, highly recommended.

If you like suspense, mystery, a well-behaved tale, and for the most fraction, agreeable acting, then this movie is a trustworthy choice. What I like about Copycat (besides Sigourney Weaver) is how it seems to advance paunchy circle. It feels complete to me. It starts at the beginning, doesn’t backtrack with flashbacks or inaugurate in the middle and leave you wondering what’s going on. You’re able to follow along and not glean distracted by unnecessary gore (definite there is some, but not noteworthy) . It’s a psychological thriller, and I like that remarkable better than the chop and stir type of movies. It makes you deem and allows you to try and figure out what the outcome will be.

Sure, you ask the star to live, but it’s not always a given. The ending kind of hints at a sequel but as far as I know, there isn’t one. If they can produce one as superb as the first, I consider it would do well (at least those who enjoyed this one, might scrutinize the second) . It’s rather enchanting to stare the Harry Connick Jr. play a serial killer. He’s dazzling creepy.

I’ve seen a number of reviews that refer to this movie as a “Silence of the Lambs” rip-off. I disagree. “Copy Cat”, while similar in many aspects to “Silence of the Lambs”, manages to stand alone. The legend line is nothing fresh…bad serial killer terrorizing young girls, cops teaming up with an expert to track him down before he selects and filets his next victim. You’ve seen it before, correct? Well, maybe not.

“Copy Cat” is filled with twists and turns and exceptional acting. The overall mood is dusky and foreboding. Helen Hudson (brilliantly played by Sigourney Weaver) is a psychiatrist and expert in the field of serial killers. However, she is not your rush of the mill “hero”… in fact, she’s a mess. She can’t even leave her house since she was scared and almost made into Darryl Lee Cullum’s final victim. Cullum, now imprisoned, did quite a number on Hudson, turning her into a pill-popping, jittering, agoraphobic shell.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Copycat! Click Here

Ironically, the protege of Darryl Lee is what actually brings her relieve from the living listless, as she works with police to track down a copy-cat killer that re-enacts the most horrifying murders history has to offer. Helen Hunt and Dermont Mulroney play the cops working feverishly to derive the copy-cat before he can strike again. Hunt and Weaver play off of each other exceptionally well. Their animosity turns into grudging respect as they realize they need one another to survive this.

Yes, this film does have similarities with “Silence of the Lambs” but it also has characteristics that residence it apart. This movie is filled with exceptional acting, a fine narrative line, region twists, realistic (if flawed) heroes and a unlit, creepy atmosphere. If you did devour “Silence of the Lambs” try “Copy Cat”…same style, differnt movie.

Firstly, let’s initiate off with the 5 stars that Beavis and Butt-Head deserves. Beavis and Butt-Head was large television that pushed the edge of the envelope. It was apt so we’ll open with a five star rating. Unfortunately some decisions on the section of the DVD producers detract from that…

Selling the DVDs in ‘best of’ format rather than all the episodes in a format that preserves the broadcast timeline is, in my conception, a mistake. As other reviewers have pointed out, Mike Judge’s ‘best episodes’ aren’t necessarily mine. Then there’s the fact that 68 episodes are completely missing - that amounts to objective over one third of Beavis and Butt-head that didn’t invent it into this position. Two stars removed for a flawed format that is very disappointing for those of us who want to peruse every Beavis & Butt-Head episode in its favorable context.

Also, the deletion of sure lines of dialogue from obvious episodes is absolutely tainted. Those of us who appreciated ALL the writing have been swindled. One star removed for this abominable decision.

Finally, in my thought, separating the music videos out and adding them as extras is a astronomical solution to a difficult pickle. Some of us disliked the music videos while some liked them. Then there’s the quandary of obtaining copyright. This diagram satisfies everyone as worthy as possible. We regain to look the explain without the distraction of the videos while those who enjoyed the music videos pick up to peer them. One star added for this proper decision. I only wish every decision made by the producers of this DVD box station was as gleaming as this one.

So all-in-all 3 stars.

Here are all the episodes that The Mike Consider Collection doesn’t include in the order they aired:

Peace Like & Opinion, Blood Drive, Door-To-door, Imprint Here, Balloon, Customers Suck, Heroes, Stewart’s House, Yogurt’s Cold, Babes R Us, Friday Night, Scientific Stuff, At The Sideshow, Be All You Can Be, Burger World, Bedpans And Broomsticks, Capable Credit, Diagram Down Mexico Intention, For Better Or Verse, Beware Of The Butt, At The Movies, Sick, Baby Makes Uh - Three, The Butt-Head Experience, Comedians, Car Wash, Couch-Fishing, Kidnapped, Naked Colony, Tornado, Incognito, Cleaning House, Scratch ‘N’ Get, Terrified Straight, Sperm Bank, Citizen Butt-Head, Right Crime, The Trial, Ball Breakers, Buff ‘N’ Stuff, Canoe, Eating Contest, Foreign Exchange, Beavis And Butt-Head Meet God, Young Gifted & Coarse, Politically Right, Sporting Goods, Closing Time, Wall Of Youth, Cow Tipping, Difficulty Urinating, Jump!, Pumping Iron, Let’s Trim It Up, Water Safety, Beavis And Butt-Head’s Island, Crisis Line, Beard Boys, Hard Sell, Walking Erect, Career Day, Recall A Number, To The Rescue, I Dream Of Beavis, Screamers, Skin Trade, The Mystery Of Morning Wood.

Some of these are classic episodes. In my idea to omit any of them is a crime, especially considering that the correct fans of the indicate have waited years hoping for ALL of B&B to finally be published.

Unlike the first volume, where Mike Mediate edited dialogue bits out of more than half the episodes, the dreaded “director’s cuts” are nowhere to be found. Some reviewers here have suggested that this volume also contains altered versions of the cartoons, but all that is missing from them (as usual) are the music videos. The harsh fan reaction regarding the edited first volume apparently got succor to Mike Consider, because he made the fair decision to sustain this batch in their unusual develop.

Contrary to some reviewers’ claims, even after Volume 3 all the episodes will not have been released to DVD. Mike Believe has made it distinct that Volumes 1-3 will enjoy roughly two-thirds of the total episodes. He considers the rest to be too dreadful to be included.

I happen to agree with Mike Reflect that, generally speaking, the later episodes are actually better than the earlier ones. But I mild strongly disagree with his decision to leave approximately one third of the episodes unreleased.

I’m tickled the episodes smooth here are complete. As for the bonus features, they are okay - I’m not determined there’s really enough to explain the third disc. The main featurette (Taint of Greatness Pt 2) is only about 20 minutes long - several minutes shorter than portion one - and is very heavy on episode clips. The selection of music videos is probably the only feature that most people will return to.

For those who have the Time-Life DVDs, you will win many duplicate episodes (though not quite as many as with the first volume) .
